BHS has implemented the Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS) through CHC, as well as the customer and regulatory authorities’ requirements. These premises allow the company to comply with its commitment to safety and quality policy:

  • Ensure “No harm to people, property or the environment” ;
  • Provide a safe workplace and promote a fair and just culture of open reporting of all safety and environmental risks;
  • Develop effective health, safety environment and quality management policies and systems;
  • Reduce impact on the environment by conserving energy, reducing consumption and minimizing the production of waste and by promoting the re-use and recycling of materials;
  • Conduct regular audits of Safety Management System (SMS) objectives, policies, practices and procedures;
  • Share the best practices across the industry and monitor industry activity to ensure best SMS practices are incorporated;
  • Demonstrate to customer and de stakeholders a clear commitment to continuous improvement;
  • Provide the necessary resources to support this policy

Risks inherent in all operations must be managed to prevent injuries, illness, death and environmental or property damage. All employees are required to maintain a safe working environment through adherence to approved procedures, training and, perhaps most importantly, communications. They must familiarize themselves and comply with relevant Health, Safety, Environment and Quality policies and regulations and work in a manner that safeguards themselves, co-workers, other people and the environment.

BHS has access to a web database that manages information related to Safety and Quality called SQID.

All employess of BHS and CHC have access to the system. They can register accident reports with the confidence that all of them will be processed. The system is also used for data comparison, reports, to share ideas, good practices and trend analysis.

The main goals for a system with transparency and easy to access are:

  • Increase the number of reports available;
  • Provide more management information concerning the Integrated Safety Management System (ISMS);
  • Facilitate the implementation of improvements;
  • Increase the confidence of the team and with that, contribute to the company's safety culture positively.

Due to the increase of information available to all employees it is possible to decrease the severity of the incidents that may occur.

BHS is certified by ANAC (National Civil Aviation Agency), according to RBHAC 135 and RBHA 145.

Flight Safety

Prevention of aircraft accidents is number one priority for Flight Security; therefore, actions are taken according to the Program for the Prevention of Aeronautical Accidents, the PPAA, which is prepared by the Security Flight Agent, from BHS.

The PPAA applies to all sectors of the company, as well as to subcontractors, and it has various schemes that are developed throughout the year.

The Flight Safety manages all reports, collects and processes feedback from the sectors involved to accomplish analysis, and issues relevant safety recommendations. The completion of the reports is disclosed to all employees, aviation authorities and other operators. All the reports are loaded in the Integrated Quality Assurance System – SQID which can be also accessed by all the bases of CHC worldwide.

Flight Safety also has the responsibility to monitor if the safety recommendations have been followed, evaluating their effectiveness, and whether there is need for corrections and / or modifications; always seeking for the highest levels of safety in the air operations of BHS.

This department is also in charge to represent BHS at meetings of flight Safety, held in conjunction with Infraero, Aeronautical Authorities (SERIPA 3, CENIPA, DECEA), customers and others carriers, where relevant issues concerning the operations in Campos Basin are discussed, contributing with recommendations and suggestions for increasing the safety of the air operations.

BHS provides its own maintenance which is certified by the RBHA 145 and has a complete infrastructure that allows it to achieve its mission: the constant search for excellence in safety and quality.

We highlight the pioneering role in a sophisticated system that controls our inventory and tools by using bar code. BHS uses “Power by hour” from "nose to tail” provided by Heli-One, ensuring the aircrafts availability. Also, a continuous professional maintenance training program is kept and provides electronic availability of the manuals.
